My Little Brother Is The Boss At Home

So here's the deal. I'm the middle sibling in my family and let me tell you, it's not easy sometimes. My little brother, let's call him Timmy, is ten years old but he acts like he's running the show. It started a couple of months ago when Mom got busy with work stuff and Dad was always out late for some project or another. We both have jobs now too, me at my part-time job as a cashier and him babysitting his friend next door. It sounds fine on paper but it's been really hectic around the house since then. Timmy decided he needed to make a list of chores everyone should do to keep things tidy. Well, let’s just say I didn't exactly volunteer for this role, but somehow ended up with most of the cleaning duties while he and my older sister get off pretty easy. He's really good at making lists though and it's like he's obsessed with organization now. Thing is, even if we have questions about his rules or want to do something fun as a family, Timmy often shoots them down in favor of keeping up the schedules he sets. Last weekend, Dad wanted us all to go out for ice cream but Timmy thought it was too busy and said we should spend the day catching up on chores instead. We ended up splitting his list among ourselves. And Mom asked if we could have pizza night Tuesday evening because she promised us, yet Timmy vetoed it because he felt there wasn't enough time to clean afterward. I'm not trying to make Timmy sound bad or anything - he's a great kid and super responsible for his age, but sometimes I feel like an actual grown-up gets ignored at home in favor of what he thinks is best. It’s weird seeing my younger brother making all these decisions when it feels like we should be on equal footing as siblings. So yeah, I guess I'm the one who's complaining here because even though Timmy isn't technically in charge, his influence seems to carry more weight than anyone else's opinions sometimes. Must sound petty, but it’s how things feel right now.
