I'm Not Always the Patient Parent I Think I Am...

Sometimes when my kids are being extra loud and annoying at 6 AM on a weekend, I start planning how to sneak out of the house. Like, if there's an emergency exit or maybe someplace nearby with early hours where I could just sit quietly for a bit... I tell myself it's only hypothetical though, you know? But man, those moments when I'm ready to snap and escape, they're not exactly mom-of-the-year material are they? It's funny because after I calm down (or rather force myself to), I always think about all the times I was a kid and my parents were at their wit's end too. And you know what? They never just upped and left us for a break, but I get it now. Sometimes adults need breaks too, even if we shouldn't admit it...
