another coffee run lie

sooo last night at work i was feeling really sluggish and just wanted to go home early. but i know the boss is always watching and he’s super strict about clocking out or taking breaks without permission. so i decided to take a coffee run instead, which isn’t against rules but feels kinda sneaky when you’re using it as an excuse to avoid work. i filled up my thermos at starbucks in our break room like usual but on the way back i noticed the clock and saw we were running behind. so i knew i couldn’t take much time or there would be trouble. but still, i felt bad about leaving the customer alone for too long so i said out loud “ok i’m just going to grab a quick cup and then i’ll be right back,” even though technically i wasn’t coming back anytime soon. the whole time it feels like im lying by omission or something because yeah it’s not against rules but there’s an unspoken rule that you don’t take breaks when we’re behind. now it’s bugging me a bit because what if they figure out i used the break as an excuse to leave early? maybe my coworkers think i’m slacking off too. i didn’t mean anything by it, just needed some rest but still, kinda feel like im cheating somehow.
