Caught in My Web of Lies

So, I started knitting a few weeks ago. Yeah, yeah, I know, 'a little birdy' told me it was relaxing and therapeutic. Well, the truth is, I'm kind of bad at it. My hands are more suited to playing basketball or guitar than weaving together threads neatly into something that looks like anything other than an unruly mess. But you can't exactly tell your friends who have been bragging about their handiwork for years, 'Hey, knitting isn't my thing.' So I made this big ol' sweater last week and wore it to a gathering at my friend Emma's house on the weekend. Of course, everyone was impressed with how well-knit it looked! The lie was that I showed them pictures of other sweaters I had knitted before because there was no way I could hide all of those loose threads under this sweater without it looking weird. It felt so wrong to pretend I'm some kind of knitting pro, but if they knew the truth, they'd probably laugh at me and never let me live it down. Guess you'll find out soon enough when I start wearing one of my ‘old’ sweaters that looks like a tangled ball of yarn on steroids.
