Just Doing My Job

I mean, who really likes customers sometimes? Don't get me wrong, there's always a few that make your day brighter. But the ones with unrealistic expectations, the ones who think customer service is an excuse for them to act entitled and demanding... let me tell you, it can be rough. I had this one woman come in today just ranting about how she needed something specific by closing time or else. And I told her honestly that we couldn't help because the item wasn't available. But oh no, she just kept going on and on like I was part of some conspiracy against her happy shopping experience. Seriously, people need to realize that when you have a job where every decision is about making others feel good while they take advantage of your kindness, it gets tiring fast. Plus, when we're told over and over again not to make promises we can't keep but still get chewed out for doing exactly what we should be doing... well, sometimes I wonder why anyone would want this job in the first place.
