I've Become the Go-To Pet Sitter for All My Neighbors’ Cats

So I recently started pet-sitting as a hobby, and let me tell you, it’s been quite an adventure. It all began when my neighbor, Rachel, who moved to New York from Paris last year, asked if I could take care of her cat, Whiskers, for the weekend while she was visiting family abroad. At first, I hesitated because pet-sitting is a big responsibility, but after seeing how devastated she looked at having to leave Whiskers behind, I agreed. Turns out, it’s been more fun and rewarding than I ever imagined! Whiskers is this adorable little calico who loves nothing more than lounging in the sun beams that filter through my apartment window, but also knows how to cause a ruckus when she wants attention or food (which is basically always). Over the weekend, I found myself getting up early to feed her and later soothing her with catnip treats when she gets anxious about Rachel’s absence. Now everyone in our building thinks of me as their go-to cat-sitter whenever they need someone trustworthy. Last week, another neighbor’s Bengal cat came over for a few days, followed by a Persian from the apartment above, who has this knack for knocking everything off my bookshelf with one swipe of her tail. It's been such a whirlwind and so much fun that I’ve decided to expand it into more than just a hobby, maybe even something I could do part-time to earn some extra cash. My friends tease me about turning into a full-fledged cat whisperer, but honestly, these furry little creatures bring a lot of joy into my life, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
