my coworker and the stapler prank

so like i work in this office place and there's this guy, mike, who keeps making fun of me all the time. it's petty stuff but still annoying as hell. he always says these dumb jokes behind my back that kinda hurt my feelings. anyway so one day i get super tired of it and think i got an idea to maybe teach him a lesson or something. i go home and find this tiny toy stapler at target, you know the kind where you press a button and it pops out a little paperclip size staple. then i come in to work and hide that in his desk drawer thinking he'll find it someday and wonder who left it there. but then as soon as i'm done hiding it i realize this is dumb and childish, but by then it's too late. now i wait around like for a week hoping he doesn't find out about it but eventually one day i see him staring at the stapler wondering what it's doing in his stuff. i feel so stupid because here i am trying to be clever and instead look like some kind of petty schoolgirl who can't deal with someone being mean. i wish i could take back that whole idea but now i'm stuck living with this decision, hoping he won't talk to me anymore which is exactly what i want him to do but feels bad. idk i guess i just wanted to get all of this out and maybe see if anyone has any thoughts? or maybe just hear if others have done similar stuff?
