I Might've Cheated a Bit on My Project Estimates ...

So, I'm this software engineer who loves my job but sometimes struggles with the nitty-gritty of project timelines. You know that feeling when you're so excited about starting something new that you just kind of gloss over how much work it'll actually be? Yeah...that was me last month on a big project. I was talking to my boss, super enthusiastic about getting started and maybe even finishing early if everything went well. So I gave her a timeline estimate that seemed optimistic but possible... only problem is, I didn't factor in the unexpected delays like the sudden need for meetings or troubleshooting those pesky bugs that always pop up. Now it's been weeks, and while we're not falling behind by much, there’s no way I'll hit that original deadline without some serious overtime. I feel a little guilty about fibbing... but also secretly excited every time I pull all-nighters and make progress! Can't help thinking, maybe this will teach me to be more realistic next time. Or at least it's been pretty fun figuring out how to sneak in extra coding hours without anyone noticing ;).
