Confessing My Little Lie to the Kids
Anonymous Sneaky Imp #668 · General
I always try to be honest with my teenagers, but there's one thing I've been lying about for a while now. Whenever they complain that their school year is dragging on and it feels like it will never end, I tell them how fast time flies and that summer vacation can't come soon enough. But the truth is, I feel guilty because deep down, I wish time would slow down just a bit. Watching my kids grow up has been one of life's greatest joys, but seeing them mature so quickly makes me sad too. It's hard to admit how much I miss those little moments and milestones that seemed huge back then but now fly by in the blink of an eye. So when they get frustrated about having another week or two until summer break, I fib a bit because their complaints make me wistful for simpler times.
