I Started Knitting...

So I recently picked up knitting as a hobby because it seemed like a good way to relax. Except now all I can do is sit around making scarves for everyone I know, and they all look terrible.... I mean, where are you supposed to get these complicated patterns anyway? And why does every single yarn store have a million different colors of the exact same thing??? It's overwhelming...
