I Spent My Whole Day Playing Solitaire at Work...

So yeah... I kind of had one of those weeks where everything just seems pointless and annoying. Like the weather's gray, you can't find your keys for 15 minutes in the morning, and then everyone just wants something from you all day long at work. I mean, it was already Friday and I was just waiting for the weekend to come... But seriously, things had been so hectic this week that by lunchtime today, my brain felt like mush. My coworkers seemed busy with their own projects or meetings, but there was still some leftover stuff on my plate that needed doing. I tried to tackle it after lunch, but then I got an email from my boss saying she wanted a meeting about... who knows what. So instead of facing the pile of emails and reports sitting in my inbox, I just sat back at my desk... And before I knew it, I was playing solitaire on my computer. Just one round, you know? But then another one after that. And then another. It's not like I was even good at the game or anything... I kept losing because I would forget what a King was when I saw an Ace or something silly like that. But there I sat for probably two hours straight, completely ignoring everything else around me... I eventually looked up and realized how long it had been since my last distraction and thought 'uh oh'. Now all I can think about is the pile of work staring at me from the monitor... and what's gonna happen when my boss asks for that meeting. Guess I'll have to face reality sooner or later, but right now? Solitaire feels like an escape. Maybe I should just write a report on the benefits of card games in reducing workplace stress...
