a lie at work

ok so i'm one of those freelancers who works from home and usually keeps a pretty good handle on my schedule but honestly today sucked. had an important call scheduled for noon with this client i've been working closely with, and let's just say the night before was less than ideal. i woke up feeling like death warmed over and literally could not function properly at all. so i send an email to jenny (my main point of contact) around 10:45 saying my internet went out because some storm came through last night, which is technically true but also a blatant fib since there was no actual storm just me feeling super unwell. the call got rescheduled for later and it all worked out in the end but man i still feel bad about telling this tiny lie to get myself an extension. maybe next time i'll actually own up to being human and needing a day to recover instead of making excuses.
