I Lied About My Coffee Order...

So there I was at my job in the coffee shop, just another day dealing with overcaffeinated people rushing to get their morning pick-me-ups. Today felt like any other, until Sarah from marketing came in... again. She always comes around 10 AM, orders her usual grande skinny vanilla latte, and then she leaves me alone for a while. But this time, there was a twist. I had made the mistake of ordering my usual large black coffee with a shot of espresso early that morning. I knew it wasn't what Sarah usually got, but I needed an extra boost since I'd only gotten four hours of sleep the night before due to some weird sci-fi binge-watching marathon. When Sarah walked in and saw me behind the counter... I panicked! What if she thought I was slacking off or something? So instead of admitting that I actually ordered my coffee, I just lied. 'Oh yeah,' I said with a forced smile, 'I'm here helping out today.' She gave me an odd look but let it go and placed her usual order without asking questions. After she left, I felt like such an idiot... But hey, no one knew the truth except me and my sleepy brain... Later that day when Sarah returned for her afternoon coffee, I couldn't face admitting what really happened. So I just kept up the charade, telling myself it was all about not wanting to explain why I didn't follow company protocol. Right? The funny thing is, now every time she comes in and sees me behind the counter with a different drink than her usual order, she gives me these puzzled looks that make me want to laugh but also groan at my own foolishness.
... Anyway, I just realized it's been weeks since anyone else has noticed, so maybe it doesn't matter. But still... this little white lie about a coffee order is eating away at me...
