My Secret Chocolate Addiction

So, I have this thing about chocolate. It's not just a fondness or an affection; it's more like a full-blown addiction. I mean, I know everyone says they love chocolate but when you break down the neurological response to eating a big chunk of dark chocolate right before bed... well, that's another level entirely. The dopamine surge, the serotonin increase, the endorphins, it's basically my own personal drug high without any of the stigma attached to actual drugs because, let's be honest, we all know there are worse vices out there than a chocolate bar or two. Anyway, here’s where it gets embarrassing: last week I was at the grocery store and I had this momentary lapse in judgment. You know how sometimes you just don't care? Yeah, that kind of thing. I walked into the checkout line with three bags full of every variety of chocolate they sell. And by 'every variety,' I mean I even picked up some white chocolate Easter eggs for no reason other than it looked funny and I wanted to see if the reaction would be the same as dark or milk. The cashier gave me this look, like she knew exactly what was going on inside my head. She didn't say anything, but the way her eyes flickered over each bag made me feel incredibly self-conscious for a moment. Of course, once I paid and walked out of there with all that chocolate, everything felt better again. The high starts almost immediately after ingestion. But here's where it gets even more ridiculous: I ended up eating most of the chocolate within two days. My roommate just looks at me with this weird mix of pity and frustration when I tell her about my latest haul, but she never tries to stop me, which is good because honestly, I'd probably end up stealing all her chocolate if she tried. So yeah, that's my confession for the day: a full-on chocolate addict who needs to get better at hiding their stash before everyone starts to suspect something.
