My Office Prank Went Too Far
Anonymous Wily Gossip #547 · General
Alright, so I might have taken my pranks at work a bit too far. See, there's this new intern, Alex, who's super enthusiastic but also kind of naive about office politics and stuff like that. One day, they were talking about how they wanted to impress the boss with some clever memo idea. So naturally, I decided to give them a little help. I took an old piece of paper from the printer, typed up something ridiculous on it, then put Alex's name at the top and left it for our boss to find while we were out to lunch. When we got back, the whole office was buzzing about how great Alex's memo idea was, turns out the boss had loved it and mentioned it in a meeting. Of course, after lunch when Alex came back and found the praise but no actual document they could claim as their own, they looked pretty lost. I felt bad for getting them into that situation where they had to try to spin an empty win for themselves. But you know what? It was so funny watching everyone's faces go from impressed to confused to suspicious once Alex couldn't back it up with anything substantial. I guess my pride in the prank wasn't worth the confusion and awkwardness I caused for someone who didn't deserve any of that. Maybe next time, I'll keep the pranks just between me and a couple close friends, no innocent bystanders, especially not a hardworking intern.
