...I'm Not the Greatest Cook...

So I’m at this new college where everyone seems to think they’re the next Gordon Ramsay or something. And yeah, I know my cooking is pretty basic but I’ve been trying to impress a couple of friends who are into all these fancy recipes and ingredients from their parents’ restaurants back home. It’s not like I lie about it... more like, I fib a little when they ask how I made things. Like last week we had this pizza night and one of the girls asked me what kind of sauce I used for my toppings. I sort of said it was some homemade marinara with special herbs that I grew in my dorm room windowsill... which is true, but there’s only one herb growing up there right now (it’s basil) and I bought the tomato sauce at Trader Joe’s. I felt so silly admitting this out loud to myself while making a salad yesterday, when they were all talking about how “artisan” it was...
