My Little White Lie at Work...

Anonymous Meddling Grinner #549 · General

So I started this new job like two weeks ago...it's pretty cool, really. My coworkers are super friendly and it feels great to be part of a team again after being unemployed for so long. The thing is, one of the tasks we do in my department involves counting inventory...and it can get a bit boring sometimes. Last week, I was supposed to count these tiny little paperclips from this huge box. But you know how frustrating that is? All these little metal things rolling around on my desk and getting stuck between keys... Well, there's this one box with like 10,000 paperclips in it...and let me tell ya, by the time I was halfway through counting them, my hands were shaking from how bored I was. So here’s where things get a little silly... I ended up just estimating and guessing at the last few hundred or so because there was this one section of the desk that had like fifty paperclips hiding under a bunch of other stuff...and I thought to myself, 'Why bother counting them all when you can just take an educated guess?' Plus, I figured nobody really cared about these tiny little things anyway... But now I feel kind of silly because what if someone notices the discrepancy? And there’s this one coworker who’s super detail-oriented...he might even notice. But honestly, it was just such a mundane task and I just got so overwhelmed by how tedious everything was. So here I am, admitting to my tiny little inventory lie... What do you guys think...am I the asshole for counting paperclips sloppily? I guess next time I'll be more careful, but man, counting all those little metal things gave me such a headache...
