When My Kids Trick Me Into Being Silly

So here's this thing that happens way too often at my house. It starts with one of them, usually it’s Jake who is five, coming up to me and saying something like “Mom, do you want to see the world record for the longest time holding your breath?” And then he waits. I’m left there wondering if this is a real thing or just another trick from my little magician of a child. But they know exactly what it does, it makes me feel silly and unsure of myself for a moment, which they love. Then Emma, who's three but acts like she’s still figuring out how to walk, chimes in with something equally vague or confusing. Before I know it, we’re all doing some ridiculous dance move because I’m so flustered trying to figure out what game they're playing. I keep thinking as a parent that I should know better, but the joy on their faces when I go along with whatever nonsensical challenge they throw at me is priceless. It's funny how quickly you can forget your adult rules and responsibilities just because these little people are so enthusiastic about life’s trivial moments. Is it okay to let them take control like this? Does anyone else have a similar experience where their kids turn the tables on them, and do you laugh along or set some boundaries?
