I Broke My Mom's Phone on Purpose

So there I was, sitting at home scrolling through Instagram when my mom walks in with a new phone. She’s been talking about getting one for months and finally upgraded from her old flip phone. As she walked towards me, I could see the sleek design and shiny screen, it looked fancy but also fragile compared to her tough old phone. The thing is, we’ve had some tension lately over my sister and it made me feel like a kid again, reacting out of frustration more than reason. Before I knew it, I snatched her new phone from her hand and dropped it on the hardwood floor with as much force as I could muster. The sound was horrifying, the plastic case cracked, the screen shattered into a million pieces. My mom froze, eyes wide in shock. And there I stood, petrified by what I just did. It’s been days since then and I still haven’t told her. But every time I look at my own phone or see something new tech-wise, it all comes flooding back, the guilt, the regret, the shame of being so childish and petty. What was supposed to be a momentary release turned into this heavy weight that doesn't feel like it's ever going away.
