I Broke My Sister's Favorite Pen Because She Would Never Share It

So here's the thing, I've always been the competitive one in my family. Not like sports or anything, but just generally speaking. And my sister, let’s call her Emma, she's a bit of an artist and really into writing and sketching. She has this one pen that was a gift from her art teacher last year, and it's her absolute favorite, the nib is perfect for sketching and the ink flows beautifully. I mean, I’ve tried to borrow it about a dozen times but she always gives me some excuse like 'It's too special' or 'You’ll ruin it if you use it.' So yeah, annoying much? The other day we were supposed to be collaborating on this family project for the school calendar, each of us draws something and then puts it together in a big family collage. I brought all my fancy markers and stuff but she just pulled out her precious pen and started working like she was some kind of professional artist, not bothering with any input from me at all. And to make matters worse, she kept looking over at me as if I were the one without ideas. So anyway, when we finally got around to talking about who gets to use what supplies for which parts of the collage, Emma insisted that nobody but her could touch her pen, including coloring in my section with it. I mean, come on! That's not fair and she knew exactly how much I wanted to try it out. I tried to keep calm and say 'Hey, why don’t we split up the sections so you get your art stuff and I can have markers?' But Emma just laughed and said 'Nope. This is my pen, end of story.' I couldn't take her attitude anymore. So while she wasn't looking, yeah, it was sneaky of me but hey, I’m not sorry about that part, I picked up her pen from the table where she had left it and just squeezed too hard on one side of the grip section. And when she came back to pick it up, there's this crack in the middle of it. Now obviously, the pen is ruined. But guess what? Emma started crying because she loved that pen so much, for a little while at least. She’s been asking me if I did it but I haven’t told her and don't plan to anytime soon. Honestly, there's no way I’d admit to breaking something just like this. Now we're supposed to be finishing up the project together later today, and she hasn’t even brought out that pen yet. Maybe she finally learned not everything can stay perfect forever, or maybe she’s saving it for a rainy day, whatever it is, I’m still proud of myself.
