My Messy Craft Projects Turned My House into an Art Museum... or a Disaster Zone?

So here's the deal. I'm a stay-at-home parent and also a bit of a crafter extraordinaire when inspiration strikes, which is like every other day. But let me tell you, my husband really hates it when I dive headfirst into these projects because they tend to take over our house. I swear it starts out innocent enough, just making some cute paper cutouts for the kids' rooms or painting those little wooden trinkets that you find in craft stores. But then BAM! The next thing I know, there are bits and pieces of everything scattered all over the place like a tornado went through our living room while watching my favorite DIY show on Netflix. I remember one time when we were trying to sell a piece of furniture online. It was this beautiful old dresser that had been in my family for ages. The photos looked great, but I knew it wouldn't really do justice to how amazing the wood grain looked up close. So while my kids were playing outside, I decided to make some sort of DIY light box setup to take a few better pictures. Next thing I know, there's tape all over the place and bits of string hanging down like a crazy person’s art installation gone wrong. But here's the kicker, while setting up this little photo shoot disaster area, my phone buzzed. It was my mom calling from Florida to check in, and she loves visiting when we're having a 'clean-up day.' So I answered the call as casually as possible: ‘Hey Mom! What’s going on?’ She goes, ‘Oh, I’m just wondering if you’re still up for us coming over tomorrow? Your dad says the weather is looking pretty nice...’ My heart sank. How was I supposed to clean this mess in time and convince her it wasn’t a big deal? Now, don't get me wrong, I love my crafty projects, but let's be real: they can turn our house into a total disaster zone overnight. But hey, at least we’ll have some really cool memories of that dresser when we look back on these photos, right? And who knows? Maybe I'll finally become the 'Craft Mom' of Instagram one day and have followers drooling over my setups, or just laughing at them...
