I Wasn't Supposed To Have That Snack Before Basketball Practice

So I'm one of the starting players on our school's basketball team. We've got this mandatory practice every Wednesday at 4 PM, and Coach always emphasizes how important it is for us to have a healthy snack before we hit the court. He really hammers home that junk food isn't going to cut it and that we should stick with fruits or yogurt. Got it? Good. But here's where I messed up. This Wednesday, my friend Jake invited me over after practice to play video games. We're talking about pizza and chips during our team chat earlier in the week, and honestly, I was craving some of those chips. So before we hit the gym that day, I snuck off to the school cafeteria for a quick fix. I remember seeing Coach hanging around near his office before practice, so I had to be sneaky about it. I grabbed my usual bag of chips from the vending machine and stuffed them into my jacket pocket, hoping no one would notice. And guess what? No one did. For those five minutes between Coach and our actual starting time, I managed to devour half the bag. Now, you might be thinking, 'What's the big deal?' Well, in hindsight, there is a pretty significant deal. A few weeks later during another game, my knees started acting up, probably from pushing myself too hard without proper energy. Coach noticed and asked what was going on. I felt guilty telling him about those chips but knew lying wasn't an option. So yeah, here's to the night I broke the rules just for a snack that wasn't exactly right before practice. I don't regret eating the chips; they were delicious. But looking back, maybe it wasn't worth risking my health and letting Coach down like that.
