I Am Not So Cool After All

Every time I hear the term 'cool grandpa,' a little part of me dies inside. But here’s my confession, it wasn’t until last week that I realized why people use those words in the first place. I was trying to navigate this newfangled technology everyone is so crazy about, and instead of clicking on the link for a funny cat video, I accidentally clicked on a news article about pension reforms, which led me to a long-winded forum debate. To top it all off, my granddaughter came into the room thinking I was catching up on viral TikTok dances, only to find me reading threads full of jargon and economic theories. She looked at me with this mix of pity and amusement that made me feel like a relic from another era. Since then, I’ve started hiding my computer activities or pretending to be as interested in those cat videos as everyone else seems to be.
