Bug Hunting Gone Wrong

I'm a software engineer at a startup, and we were working on an important feature for our latest app release. I was tasked with finding a bug that had been reported by several users but couldn't replicate it myself or find any pattern in the code that might cause such issues. So, I decided to play a little prank: I intentionally introduced a small error into the system to demonstrate how tricky these bugs can be and to show my teammates how thorough we needed to be. Well, you guessed it, my little 'bug' somehow made its way past quality assurance and was live for an hour before someone noticed and reported it again. Needless to say, I got an earful from our QA team and had a meeting with the boss about proper testing protocols. Lesson learned: pranks at work can lead to unexpected consequences.
