I'm So Not Sorry For This One Time When I Spilled Coffee On My Boss's Lap

So there's this guy who comes into the cafe every morning at like 8 AM sharp. He works in a suit and tie, looks all put together and buttoned up. But let me tell you, he’s got more buttons than a Rubik's cube with attitude issues. Every single day, no matter how busy we are or what I’m trying to get done, this guy insists on being served first, even if there's a line of regulars who come in right after him and have been our customers for years. He thinks he owns the place just because he drops a couple of bucks here every morning. Anyway, one day, my boss had walked up behind me to say something while I was pouring this huge pitcher of coffee. And as you might expect when someone's standing too close with an important message in their eyes, I froze up, didn't move quick enough and spilled a good amount of coffee into his lap. Let me tell ya', it wasn’t even the hot stuff, just cool temperature, but still wet enough to make him yelp like a kid who’s fallen in water. And guess what? It was all over those pants he wears everyday, always pressed and looking sharp. Talk about ruining someone's perfect day. Now here comes the best part: everyone in the cafe turned around to look because it happened just as I had been making his drink order. The looks on people’s faces were priceless, some surprised, others trying not to laugh out loud. And there was this moment of silence where you could feel every person hoping for something funny or embarrassing but also a little horrified at what might happen. I’m still here after all that and guess what? I didn’t get fired. My boss walked away muttering something about having dry-cleaning funds under his desk, clearly ready to deal with the fallout himself without any need to take it out on me or change our morning routine. So yeah, while others might call this a disaster or an accident waiting to happen, I see it differently. Sometimes you just need a little chaos in your day and when I got him back for all those mornings of feeling like the least important person at my own job? That was worth every bit of spilled coffee.
