...When I Drowned My Sorrows in Shifts...
Anonymous Guilty Meddler #582 · General
So here’s the thing, I’ve been working long shifts at the bar lately to pay off some bills. It started out okay, just another job, but it turned into a sort of escape from reality. You know how it goes, right? The longer you work, the more numb you feel. I started drinking on my breaks, not much, just enough to keep that edge... But last week, things got a bit blurry. There was this one night when I mixed up drinks for customers and then forgot about them until they complained. It was a big mess, and even though it wasn’t intentional, I couldn’t help but wonder if drinking during my shifts had become less of an escape and more of a crutch... How did things get so far? Was this really how I wanted to cope with everything?...
