I Never Call My Coworker by Their Name Anymore

So here's the thing. I've been working nights at this coffee shop for about three years now, and there's one guy named Jack who I just can't stand being around. He's always late, talks way too loud during quiet hours, and he has this awful habit of spilling everything all over the place. It's like he's in a constant rush to do nothing at all. At first, I tried to be nice about it. You know, smile when we have our shifts together, make small talk if he talks to me (which is rare). But man, every time Jack comes into work looking stressed and frazzled, my mood plummets faster than the temperature in an ice cream shop freezer. Last month, I finally snapped. It was a particularly bad night where he showed up 30 minutes late for our shift and then proceeded to make an absolute mess of everything. By the end of his shift, I had spent at least half my time cleaning up after him instead of doing my own work. That's when it hit me, I could either let this get to me or take control. So, from that day on, every time he walks in, I greet him with a cheerful 'Hi, Mr. Late and Messy!' It gets people laughing sometimes, but mostly, it's just this little way for me to vent my frustrations without saying anything too mean. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be an asshole or create drama at work (or so I keep telling myself). But when you're tired and stressed from a full night of serving people who aren't nearly as polite as they could be, it feels pretty damn good to have one small thing that isn't going completely sideways for once. And yeah, sometimes Mr. Late and Messy gets under my skin more than usual, but hey, this is how I cope.
