i lied about checking my email

ok so i was supposed to send a file to my boss like hours ago but i kept putting it off. and then he messaged me asking if i had sent it yet and i literally said yes without thinking because im an idiot who hopes no one notices. now its been sitting in my drafts folder for ages and im just stressing that someone will check my email history or something. why do we always think lying is the easier option
