Caught Daydreaming Again

I've always been the teacher that gets lost in my own world during class. You know what I mean, eyes glaze over, smile fades, and suddenly you're thinking about how much better your life would be if you were a ninja turtle or something. It happens every day, and it's never intentional. Just this morning, I was lecturing on the importance of critical thinking in math class when my mind slipped into full-on dream mode. Next thing I know, half the period has gone by without me saying a word. Students look at each other like they're about to stage an intervention. I've gotten pretty good at pretending nothing happened, smooth transition into explaining how this is exactly what happens in real life when we stop paying attention. But it's become too much of a habit, and I'm starting to wonder if maybe there's something wrong with me or if everyone just thinks I'm the most boring teacher ever. So here’s my question: Is daydreaming during class normal? Do you think students notice as much as I feel like they do? What should I do about it? Am I doomed to be that teacher forever?
