...When My Grandkids Asked Me to Hide Their Pizza for Them...

So there I was, Sunday evening, sitting in my living room flipping through an old family photo album. Suddenly, a knock on the door interrupts my nostalgia trip. It's my grandkids, Emma and Tom, both with their guilty faces plastered wide open. 'Grandma,' says Emma as she shuffles her feet nervously, 'we have a problem.' She leans closer to me... 'Tom's birthday party was last night, but he got so full on cake that he couldn't finish his pizza... It's in the fridge and Mom said no snacks before bedtime. So we thought maybe you could hide it somewhere?'... I tried not to laugh as Tom nodded eagerly beside her... Of course, my first thought is 'I'm too old for this,' but then again, they're kids with innocent intentions... 'Alright fine,' I say, sighing dramatically for effect... 'Where's the pizza hiding spot?' They giggle and lead me into the kitchen. It takes me a bit of digging through the fridge and pantry... I finally find a secret compartment under the sink filled with old newspapers and forgotten cables. The pizza box fits just right in there... Perfect hiding place, too high for little kids to reach and not somewhere they'd think to look.... Fast forward to Monday morning, as I'm about to head out to my book club, Emma bursts into tears claiming she saw her mom looking at the pizza box with a frown. Turns out, she peeked early just in case... And now, it's all on me... They've told everyone I 'hid' the pizza and their mom thinks they're being sneaky instead of innocent little angels... So here's my confession: Grandma took part in a grandchild conspiracy to hide food... Now every time I'm babysitting, they'll probably want to test out if I'll help again. Maybe next time, it will be a more savory hiding spot for their treats....
