I'm Not Just a Stay-at-Home Parent

Hey everyone, this is something I've been wanting to spill for a while. So, when I tell people at the playground or in mom groups that I stay at home with my kids full-time, sometimes I feel like they look at me like I'm doing nothing but watching TV and eating cookies all day long. Sure, there are days where I do exactly that, and honestly, it feels so good to take a break from the constant hustle of raising little humans. But on those days when I’m not vegging out, I’m actually working harder than most of my friends who have full-time jobs outside the home. I organize play dates like a pro, plan elaborate craft projects that keep everyone busy for hours, and sometimes I even clean and cook while the kids are napping. But you know what? There’s one thing I do that maybe isn't as admirable, but it makes me feel so guilty for nothing: When they’re sleeping through the night (which happens rarely), I watch entire seasons of my favorite TV shows without ever feeling bad about it. I’m pretty sure if I were an office worker and managed to binge-watch six episodes in a row at my desk during lunch breaks, no one would bat an eye! So yeah, I'm proud of being there for my kids, but don’t mistake my quiet days for doing nothing.
