Why Did I Do This?

So yesterday, my four-year-old was crying because he couldn't find his favorite teddy bear. And I remember thinking to myself, 'Oh, just tell him it's in the washing machine so you can have a moment of peace.' But then I started wondering if that’s a bad parenting tactic or not? I mean, obviously I didn’t actually do anything but imagine lying to my kid. It was weird. Plus, he ended up finding his bear under the couch cushion later, which made me feel like an idiot for even considering such a thing. So now I'm here, wondering if this is just part of being human or something more serious?
