I'm So Ashamed of This Messy Secret Room of Ours

So yeah, it's been a while since I've written anything. But today feels like one of those days when you just gotta spill the beans and let it all out. You know how sometimes you start off with good intentions but end up somewhere totally different? That's what happened to me. I moved into this apartment last year, fresh from freelancing in coffee shops for years. Thought I'd give myself a proper space to work from home and really make a life here. The idea was solid, get away from distractions and have a place just for clients, my computer, spreadsheets... But over time, things... drifted. My roommate is great, we barely bump into each other because we're always busy with our own lives. I started keeping odd hours too, up late working when it's quiet, sleeping in during the day. Then there's this one room at the back of the apartment that got a little out of hand. When you work from home, everything piles up if you let it. My room is supposed to be my office but it morphed into something else entirely. Papers everywhere, clothes on every surface, half-finished projects just sitting around. The kicker, I'm embarrassed when people come over and I have to run upstairs or barricade myself in another room. Once a friend stopped by unexpectedly and saw the whole mess from the doorway before we could close the door fast enough. She had this look on her face, you know that awkward mix of pity and horror? I try telling myself it's no big deal, I work here, so why clean up if there's always more to do? But deep down, I know it is a problem. There’s an empty promise in me thinking that the clients won't care what my workspace looks like as long as they get their stuff done on time. I guess this confession isn't really about looking for advice or anything, just venting and hoping someone else out there feels the same way sometimes, you know? It's a bit embarrassing to admit it, but hey, I'm not alone in letting things slide when no one is watching.
