new city woes

moved here a month ago and i still havent figured out where the hell anything is. like even my own apartment complex is a mystery to me. every time i go somewhere new, it feels like an epic quest of discovery. any tips for a complete local navigation noob? im starting to think there are secret underground tunnels or something that everyone knows about except for me.
