When I Ditched Work to Attend a Yoga Class and My Boss Felt the Vibe

So here's my situation. I'm a freelance writer working from home, and let me tell you, it's all fun and games until your deadlines start piling up like a never-ending snowball. This morning was supposed to be another day of pounding away on my laptop for a big project with tight timelines. But you see, there’s this new yoga studio right around the corner from my place, and I’d been eyeing it ever since they opened their doors a few weeks back. The classes look amazing and promise everything from stress relief to improved focus, exactly what I needed before tackling that huge article assignment. So here comes today's dilemma: Should I spend another day holed up in my room, staring at my computer screen like some kind of digital hermit? Or should I face the music and do something good for myself, both physically and mentally? After deliberating for what felt like an eternity (it was probably just a few minutes), I decided to cut out early and attend that yoga class. It’s not like I never take breaks, I usually go for short walks or meditate, but this seemed different, more of a commitment to my well-being. I managed to get through most of the day's work before leaving, but there was still about three hours left on my schedule. I sent out a quick email to my boss explaining that I would be out for an afternoon yoga class and promised to make up any lost time after lunch. She didn’t seem thrilled (she’s not exactly known for her flexibility), but she reluctantly agreed. The class was fantastic, by the way, I felt so energized and clear-headed afterwards that it made everything seem more manageable. But now here I am, wondering if my boss will give me a hard time later about cutting out early to take care of myself. Is it really such a big deal? Or maybe she has a point, shouldn’t I be focusing on work above all else? What do you guys think? Am I being selfish and unprofessional, or is this just another way of saying that self-care isn't something we should ignore, even in the middle of deadlines? Your thoughts would mean so much!
