The Last Straw at Work

So here's something I've been chewing on for weeks now. It all started when my new boss took over last month, and ever since then things have just felt off at work. Not that it was perfect before, the night shift isn't exactly filled with chit-chat and laughs between coworkers. But there's a difference between tolerating silence and actively feeling like you're on the outside looking in. Anyway, I had this co-worker who used to be around all the time during my late shifts, but once everything changed, she just stopped showing up. No one said anything about it, not even HR, they don't usually care what happens at night as long as we do our jobs and show up on time. Last week was particularly tough because I had to cover for another coworker who called in sick twice in a row. There's only so much coffee you can drink before your hands start shaking, and by the end of my shift, I just wanted to be done with it all. That last day? My boss came around asking me how everything was going, and instead of saying 'fine,' I let out this sarcastic comment about being a one-person cleaning crew. And you know what? She called me on it right there in front of everyone else. Made me feel like such an ass. But then she turned to the others and started talking about how we need to start pulling our weight more seriously or things aren't going to work out for anyone here, which only made me angrier because I knew they weren't even listening. So yeah, that's when it happened, the last straw moment where I just snapped. I packed up my stuff and told her straight to her face that if this is what she wants from us, then maybe she should find someone else who doesn't mind cleaning everything up on their own while others sit around doing nothing. Now here I am, looking for a new job and feeling pretty low about all of it. I used to love my nights at work, but now it just feels like one big mess that no amount of coffee can fix.
