The Gift That Got Away

I've been planning to confess my feelings for Alex since freshman year. Finally worked up the courage just before graduation. Instead of telling him how much he means to me, I blurted out 'I hate you.' We haven't talked since. Now I wonder if everyone has these weird moments where they say something awful and don't mean it at all.
