Spilled Coffee All Over My Grandson's Homework

I did it again. Spilt coffee all over my grandson's homework and math test last night. I've been doing this every week for the past three months, ever since he started eighth grade. It happened again after I was busy baking cookies in the kitchen, you know, the kind that take a lot of time to make with flour everywhere. Had him worried sick all night thinking about his upcoming test and me cleaning up after him when we had other plans. I knew as soon as I walked into the room there it would be: my coffee, sitting temptingly on the desk near where he left everything for school today. It was just sitting there waiting to happen, not like I meant to or anything! Just that I was rushing around, trying to get out a card before he came home from soccer practice. When I saw it there, all neat and tidy, it was hard to resist. I picked it up with such grace, and then the moment of truth - I sat down on my chair which creaked so loud in that silent room. And that's when it happened. Coffee went flying! The hot brown liquid spread across the math test like a stain on your favorite shirt. My grandson freaked out when he came home but seeing his reaction made me feel guilty and excited at the same time. He was worried about his grades, but I promised him we'd get him help before next week's quiz. Now every week we play this game of 'will grandma spill coffee or won't she.' It's my own little secret fun. He doesn't know how much I actually love doing it because he thinks maybe I'm clumsy and not paying attention to what I'm doing. Little does he know, it's all a setup - well, mostly. So yeah, there you have it. My weekly ritual with coffee and homework. Who would've thought something so simple could cause such drama?
