The Sibling Imitator...

So...I've been feeling really bad lately. It's about my older sister, Lila. She's always been the star in our family, getting good grades, winning all the awards at school and stuff like that. I admire her a lot and try to be more like her because mom and dad are so proud of her accomplishments...but sometimes it feels like they barely notice me. I started imitating Lila's mannerisms and hobbies just to get some attention for myself. Like, pretending I love books as much as she does or telling everyone I practice piano every day when really, I'm not that into classical music at all. At first...it kind of worked? People noticed me more because I was doing similar things to what Lila did... But then one time...I had this idea to sneak her diary and read it so I could copy her thoughts for the next family dinner conversation, you know? It went badly really fast when she caught me red-handed and my plan backfired. She got mad at both of us, thinking we were plotting against her or something. Now...I feel terrible. Lila is just as confused about what's going on between us. I told her how sorry I am but maybe it was too little too late? My parents are still asking me if everything with my sister is okay, and I'm just lost here... Am I the asshole for pretending to be someone else just so I could get some attention from our family? Is this something that happens a lot between siblings? How do you fix it all...?
