An Artist's Secret Shame
Anonymous Winking Schemer #356 · General
I've been struggling with comparing my art to others online, everyone seems so talented and successful. Recently, I found an artist whose work resonates deeply with me; it’s beautiful but also raw in its vulnerability. Admitting this, however, feels like a betrayal of sorts, I’m afraid people might think I'm less original or somehow 'less' as an artist because someone else inspires me so much.
Is it normal to find inspiration and joy from the work of others? Should I just embrace these feelings or hide them out of some misplaced sense of insecurity?
