I'm Boring My Co-Workers With My Netflix Shows

So here's my story. It's been a pretty slow and uneventful week at the office. Monday felt like every other Monday, Tuesday was just another day of paperwork. By Wednesday, I couldn't take it anymore, the monotony was starting to drive me crazy. That's when I realized I needed an escape. So what did I do? I decided to share my Netflix habits with everyone in hopes that talking about them would make my life seem more interesting than it actually is. It started off innocently enough. On Wednesday, we had a casual lunch meeting where everyone was supposed to discuss their weekend plans. Since mine were as thrilling as watching paint dry, laundry, grocery shopping, the usual, I decided to talk about how much I’ve been binge-watching 'Stranger Things' on Netflix. It wasn't exactly a lie; I have actually watched quite a bit of it recently. But my excitement seemed out of place. People's eyes started glazing over as they exchanged awkward smiles. The following day, Thursday, was the real turning point. We had an unexpected meeting about office renovations that lasted way longer than expected. To kill time after lunch, I brought up 'BoJack Horseman' because it’s been a favorite series of mine for years now. This was when the realization hit me, my coworkers were losing interest in talking to me during breaks and lunchtime. Friday morning, instead of catching up on email like everyone else, I spent 20 minutes raving about how 'The Umbrella Academy' season finale had left me speechless. It wasn't until after the meeting that one colleague gently told me, “We get it, you really love Netflix.” It's funny looking back because every time I thought my work life was getting dull and repetitive, I would bring up another Netflix show or episode to spice things up. Maybe they were right about my efforts being too obvious, but honestly, the shows themselves are fascinating. How am I supposed to keep it all inside? And yet, here we are.
