When My Roommate Left Her Laptops Unlocked, Oops!

So here’s the thing. You know how sometimes you just can’t resist? Like that one time when I saw my roommate’s laptop was unlocked and she left it out in the living room while we were studying together. She doesn’t really seem to mind if things are open because she knows we’ve been friends for a long time, so I thought why not take a quick peek? I mean, who hasn’t wanted to know what goes on behind closed screens? Maybe there’s some juicy gossip in her emails or maybe even secret crushes hidden in her private messages. Of course, it wasn’t like I was looking through everything, just the obvious stuff that would give me clues about her day-to-day life. But then she came back and found me just casually browsing. She said something like ‘Oh hey, I hope you didn’t find anything too interesting,’ and it felt like the earth stopped spinning for a second while I tried to figure out how much trouble I was in or if this is totally normal roommate behavior where we all have a little nosiness. So here’s my question: Am I being paranoid about this? Do other people do something similar when they’re curious and catch their roommates by surprise like that? Or am I overthinking it and just need to chill out a bit? I hope she doesn’t tell me off, but honestly, we’ve known each other since freshman year and have gone through so much together. Maybe this is all in my head and we’re both just being silly. What do you guys think? Should I apologize profusely or should I play it cool and say that I couldn’t help myself because curiosity got the better of me?
