My Prank Backfired at Work This Week

I'm feeling really guilty about what happened this week at the office. It started off as a bit of harmless fun, but it ended up causing more trouble than I anticipated. Last Tuesday, my co-worker Mike was getting on my nerves because he kept bragging about how many emails he could send out in an hour. It's just one of those annoying things that get under your skin sometimes. So, being the prankster that I am, I decided to teach him a lesson. Without telling anyone else about it, I planted some fake candy wrappers and other garbage inside his desk drawer. My plan was for Mike to find them during lunch and feel stupid, maybe even laugh at himself. Unfortunately, he didn't discover my little surprise until later in the day when we were both busy with deadlines and meetings. He got so flustered that he spilled coffee all over his laptop, which needed urgent repairs. It's not like I was trying to sabotage him or anything, I just wanted a bit of payback for his constant boasting. Now everyone thinks I'm immature and irresponsible at work, especially since we're working on this big project with tight deadlines. To make matters worse, our boss saw the mess after Mike's laptop got ruined and questioned us both about it. She gave me a stern look that said she thought I was behind the prank even though I didn't own up to it outright. I've been feeling pretty guilty since then. It's not like my prank did any real damage, but it certainly wasn't helpful or professional either. Plus, now I feel like Mike and I have a weird tension between us that isn't going away anytime soon. So yeah, this week has definitely been an eye-opener for me on the consequences of playing practical jokes at work.
