... My Grandkid's Birthday Party Mishap ...

So this happened at my grandkid Sam's birthday party last week. I was in charge of making sure the snacks were stocked and handing out cake later, but I got distracted by talking to other parents about old times. Next thing I know, I look over to where the snacks are supposed to be laid out on a big table next to the party games...and there's nothing. I had everything set up nice with juice boxes, potato chips, and some little sandwiches I made that morning. But somehow it all got cleared away. Of course everyone was getting hungry and starting to complain about no snacks. So naturally, I got flustered and started trying to find where they went...maybe the serving plates were just put somewhere else? That's when my daughter walks over and tells me that one of the other kids decided it would be funny to hide everything under Sam's bed in his room. The birthday boy came out looking so confused and sad that everyone was grumpy about no snacks...I felt awful. So I ended up rushing into the kitchen to grab whatever we could find on short notice, all the while muttering to myself how this whole fiasco probably looks like I messed everything up again. But then Sam's party really took off once people were finally fed and happy, so it turned out okay in the end. I don't know if you've ever had something similar happen where your intentions were good but everything still went wrong...I just can't believe someone thought that hiding all the snacks was a good idea. It's these little slip-ups that make me question my place at parties now, but I guess it's also why people like having grandparents around for birthdays anyway!
