So I'm the Mom Who Told My Kid's Teacher to Buzz Off

I swear, it sounds way worse when I say it out loud. But yeah, there was this one time last week where my kid, Lily (7), comes home from school all teary-eyed because her classmate Tommy called her names during recess. Now, normally I'd have a chat with the teacher about making sure kids are being nice to each other and maybe even getting an apology out of Tommy. But you know how it goes - one of those days when your patience is thinner than usual. Well, here's where I screwed up big time. Instead of talking calmly like a mature adult would, I decided to text the teacher that she should 'mind her own damn business' and leave my child alone because she didn't need some nosy busybody butting into her social life. After hitting send, I knew instantly I'd made a huge mistake, that's not how you communicate with a professional who’s just trying to do their job. But there was no taking back the message once it had been sent. The next day at school pickup, I could see from her facial expression and tone of voice before she even opened her mouth that she knew something big happened. Turns out she hadn’t told Lily about my little rant because she wanted to handle it maturely and give me a chance to apologize first. So there I was, standing in front of the teacher’s door at school with all eyes on me, feeling incredibly embarrassed as I muttered an apology through gritted teeth. Honestly, it's hard being the parent who loses her cool like this, it doesn't paint me as someone who can set a good example for my kids. But hey, we’re only human and sometimes you have to admit your mistakes and hope everyone moves past them quickly.
