A Little White Lie at Work

I admit it, I fibbed this week to avoid a dull meeting. My boss asked me if I could stay late for an important strategy session on Wednesday, but honestly, the thought of sitting through yet another lengthy discussion about our project’s progress made my eyes glaze over. Instead of saying yes and committing myself to yet another mundane afternoon of slideshows and updates, I told him that I had a dentist appointment at 4 PM. The funny part? My dental check-up is always at 9 AM on Thursday mornings. It feels silly to feel guilty about this little fib, but there’s something about deceiving even slightly that leaves me with an uncomfortable aftertaste.
