Why Did I Do That?...

I think it was around my grandson's eighth birthday party last year when the idea hit me. You know how grandmothers often want to make a big impression, right? Well, I decided that instead of bringing another boring card or toy, I would bring a cake shaped like his favorite character from the latest movie he loves. Now here comes the silly part... When it was time for the cake cutting, I suddenly froze and just stared at my handiwork. Why did I think this would go over well? The frosting was lopsided, and the chocolate chips had melted in the heat outside the fridge. But the real kicker was when I started singing 'Happy Birthday' off-key... It wasn't exactly a proud moment, but it made me laugh to myself later on. Was it really about making an impression or just wanting to fit in? Or both? I guess only time will tell if there's another cake disaster in my future...
