bored at work and making stuff up

ok so i have this job where every day is the same and honestly super boring. like real boring. last week though my boss wanted to know how many new customers we got, but im too lazy to actually count so i just made some numbers up cuz why not? today he asked me again and i was thinking what number should i say that wouldnt make him think i cheated or anything, then it hit me - why lie at all? so when hes like 'ok how many new customers did we get this week' i am gonna be like 'zero' because honestly if people arent even calling to talk about our stuff im not going to fake interest just for some stupid goal. im thinking everyone is gonna think its bad but im like nah, lets be real here. plus he cant fire me right? i mean come on its only one week and honestly im too tired of pretending things are better than they actually are at work. so how does this make me an asshole? or am i just being honest here? plz let me know cuz i really dont wanna lose my job but i also dont wanna lie anymore.
