I Gave My Little Sister All My Savings to Teach Her About Spending Wisely... Oops?

So, here's the thing... I've always been protective over my little sister Emma. She's only 12 and has never really had to worry about money before because our parents handle everything for her. But recently, I felt like she should start learning more about financial responsibility so she doesn't grow up with an entitlement mindset. I sat her down the other day and we talked about how important it is to be careful with your finances... but then I got a wild idea. What if she learned first-hand by managing some actual money? So, without really thinking it through all the way, I decided to give Emma my entire savings account balance... which was actually quite significant for me. I handed her my debit card and showed her how much money was in there... then explained that this would be her 'budget' for a month. We agreed on some basic spending rules, like no frivolous purchases, but I didn't really set any limits because I thought she'd figure things out as we went along. Now here's where it gets embarrassing... Emma turned around and started spending like crazy! She bought all sorts of gadgets and clothes that were clearly way above what she needed. We had a sit-down discussion halfway through the month, but it was too late, my savings were almost gone! I'm so worried about her financial future now after this little experiment... But I also know that making mistakes is part of growing up. I just feel like maybe giving her money and saying 'figure it out' wasn't the best way to teach responsibility... So, am I a total jerk for letting my sister spend all my savings? Or did she learn something valuable from this experience anyway... even if it was through some trial by fire?
