I Made Up My Science Homework

So yesterday after school, I went to the skate park with my friends instead of going home and finishing that huge science project. When Mr. Thompson asked me about it today, I said I had left it at home on purpose because... well, I didn't really have a reason other than I wanted to be cool and hang out longer. But when he checked his email later for homework updates, all the kids were saying they did it already. I panicked and just lied again, telling him my dog ate it. Mr. Thompson looked at me like he knows better, which makes me feel even worse. I don't know why I felt like fibbing was easier than admitting I goofed off. It's not like I can undo it now or bring back that project.
